RULES – L’ARIÉGEOISE
ARTICLE 1 – THE EVENT
L’ARIÉGEOISE is a mass cycling event on open roads, organized under the authority of the Fédération Française de Cyclisme (French Cycling Federation – FFC). It will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026 and will offer 4 routes starting in Tarascon-sur-Ariège and finishing in Auzat.
Only the cyclosportive routes will be timed: l’Ariégeoise, la Mountagnole and la Rapaillou. The “Elles font l’Ariégeoise”, “La Passéjade” and “Passéjad’Elec” routes are non-timed sportive rides with no ranking. “L’Ariégeoise XXL – 30th edition”, starting on 26 June 2026, is a non-competitive sportive ride with no ranking. The specific rules for this sportive ride will be published from 16/11/2025.
ARTICLE 2 – ACCEPTANCE OF RISKS
By registering, each participant acknowledges that they have read these regulations as well as those of the Fédération Française de Cyclisme (https://www.ffc.fr/la-federation/organisation/reglementation-federale/), accepts all clauses in full, and accepts the risks linked to their participation, in particular health risks, risks of falls and collisions, as well as risks related to road traffic and weather conditions.

Cyclosportive events:
-
L’Ariégeoise: open to all, licensed and non-licensed riders aged 18 and over on the day of the event.
-
La Mountagnole and la Rapaillou: open to all, licensed and non-licensed riders aged 17 and over on the day of the event.
According to the provisions of the Fédération Française de Cyclisme:
-
Riders licensed with the FFC or with another federation organizing competitive cycling (UFOLEP, FSGT, FFTRI) must complete the registration form and upload a full copy of their current competitive licence valid for the 2026 season.
-
Non-competitive licences or licences other than for cycling will be refused.
-
Other participants (licenced with FFVélo or other federations), foreign cyclists (holders of regional, national and/or UCI licences) and non-licensed riders must complete the registration form and upload either:
-
a compliant medical certificate of fitness for competitive cycling dated less than one year before the day of the event, or
-
a certificate of completion of the health module.
-
You may present a certificate of completion of the health module dated less than 4 months before the event by creating an account in the FFC licence space: https://licence.ffc.fr/. By successfully completing the “Module Santé” process set up by the FFC, you will obtain a certificate which must be uploaded to your file in place of the medical certificate.
If you are unable to present this certificate, a compliant medical certificate of fitness for competitive cycling, dated less than one year before the day of the event, will be required (template available on our website).
Riders licensed with FFH must upload their FFH licence as well as their classification certificate.
Non-FFH-licensed riders providing recognised proof of disability issued by a certified body will not be ranked in the handisport category.
Minor cyclists, licensed or not, are subject to the same rules and must provide:
-
parental authorization, and
-
a medical certificate of fitness for competitive cycling dated less than 6 months.
Minors may present a certificate of completion of the specific “youth health module” dated less than 4 months before the event by creating an account in the FFC licence space: https://licence.ffc.fr/. By successfully completing the “Module Santé spécifique mineurs” process, you will obtain a certificate which must be uploaded in place of the medical certificate.

ANY NON-COMPLIANT DOCUMENT WILL BE REFUSED AND NEW DOCUMENTS WILL BE REQUESTED.
Sportive rides (rando sportives):
-
Sportive rides (Passejades): open to all, licensed and non-licensed riders aged 12 and over.
-
“Elles font l’Ariégeoise”: open to women only, licensed and non-licensed riders aged 12 and over.
A medical certificate or health module certificate or a cycling licence is mandatory.
All minors must provide parental authorization.
The registration of a minor under 16 must be carried out by a legal adult who validates the registration file. Furthermore, they must be accompanied by an adult taking part in the same route (“Passejade” or “Elles font l’Ariégeoise”). This adult is considered the guardian of the under-16 rider and must accompany them throughout the ride. A parent may accompany their child(ren). A non-parent adult may only accompany one child. In both cases, parental authorization signed by both parents is mandatory. If the designated adult guardian fails, the minor child(ren) must abandon the ride.
It is each participant’s responsibility to ensure that their registration file is complete before collecting their race number. If any document is missing, the participant will not be allowed to start.

Race numbers (dossards)
Race numbers are allocated electronically from 18/05/2026 according to the chosen route:
-
No. 1 to No. 2999: Ariégeoise (priority bibs from No. 1 to No. 399)
-
No. 3000 to No. 6999: Mountagnole (priority bibs from No. 3000 to No. 3399)
-
No. 7000 to No. 8999: Rapaillou (priority bibs from No. 7000 to No. 7399)
-
No. 9000 to No. 9499: Elles font l’Ariégeoise
-
No. 9500 to No. 9999: Passéjade / Passéjad’Elec
It is forbidden to give or resell your race number (see Article 5 – REFUND, DEFERRAL, NUMBER EXCHANGE, JERSEY DELIVERY OR COLLECTION). Only the organizer may propose a solution.
Priority race numbers
Cyclosportive riders having achieved a significant result in another event and providing mandatory proof (certificate, official results) will be granted priority on the start line, subject to available space. Riders in 1st, 2nd and 3rd categories will also have priority on the start line, but these categories will only be taken into account for the overall (scratch) classification (FFC rules).
In addition to the usual criteria, an Otakam index below 25 for men and below 50 for women will give access to a priority race number (on request).
All priority bib holders on the start line receive the same starting time. The ranking of the first 3 riders in each race is based on the order of crossing the finish line, not on their time.
Registration confirmation
A race number confirmation will be sent by email, or by post for participants without an email address.
All files must be updated before 21/06/2026 by logging into your personal account using your login and password.
Routes and changes of route
The routes will be revealed on 16 November 2025.
A change of route may be requested free of charge by written request via your account and support request up to 10/05/2026. From this date onwards, any change of route will be carried out only at race number collection on Friday 26/06/2026 and will incur a 10 € fee (modification requires work on the frame plate by our volunteers). No changes will be possible on Saturday 27/06/2026.
A change of route concerns a rider wishing to switch from l’Ariégeoise to la Mountagnole or la Rapaillou or to one of the two Passejades, and vice versa. Participants registered for the Passejade or Elles font l’Ariégeoise (after 11/04/2026) who wish to switch to Ariégeoise, Mountagnole or Rapaillou at number collection must pay 30 €. This sum includes the 10 € route change fee + 20 € additional entry fee for a timed race (see Article 4 – Fees).
ARTICLE 5 – REFUND, DEFERRAL, BIB EXCHANGE, JERSEY DELIVERY OR COLLECTION
In the event of inability to participate for genuine and serious reasons (accident, total incapacity, illness, death of a close relative, being a wedding witness) and upon presentation of supporting documents, the participant may request by email or by post and before 30/06/2026:
-
A refund of 80%.
After these dates and apart from these reasons, no refund will be granted and no deferral to 2027 will be possible. Refunds will be processed within 2 months after the event.
If you cannot take part and your registration cannot be refunded, the organization may, upon written request, send you the official jersey within 5 months after the event.
Any race pack collected on the day of the event will not entitle the participant to any refund or jersey shipment.
Bib exchange
Exchanging a race number between participants, whether for sale or as a gift, is strictly forbidden. A nominative list of participants is sent to the insurer when registration closes. In the event of a bib exchange, the cyclist is uninsured and bears full responsibility in case of an accident, for themselves, for other participants and for the organization.
It is strictly forbidden to take part in our event without a race number. The organization reserves the right to initiate legal action against any rider without a bib in case of an accident or incident.
ARTICLE 6 – CLOSING OF REGISTRATION
Registrations close definitively once the number of 5,300 participants is reached or, at the latest, on 14 June 2026 at 23:59.
ARTICLE 7 – SAFETY
The roads used by L’Ariégeoise remain open to traffic throughout the event.
Taking part in a mass event on open roads implies compliance with the French highway code and any applicable prefectural and/or municipal orders, using only the right-hand side of the road and ensuring your own safety by adapting your speed.
Support vehicles are dangerous, disrespectful to other riders and are therefore forbidden. Any participant whose personal support vehicle is reported by a commissaire will be disqualified.
Appointed commissaires have the authority to penalize, exclude and remove the frame plate of any participant who does not comply with the regulations (littering, dangerous riding, non-compliance with the highway code).
Medical staff are likewise authorized to suspend and evacuate any participant taking risks that could endanger their health or life.
Official doctors and first-aiders are particularly authorized to:
-
remove from the race any rider deemed unfit to continue,
-
evacuate by any means riders they consider to be in danger,
-
hospitalize riders whose state of health requires it.
The participant acknowledges that the chosen route is demanding. They declare that they have trained sufficiently and have consulted the weather forecast on the route before starting.
To take part in l’Ariégeoise, it is strongly recommended to have ridden at least 4,000 km and 25,000 m of climbing (D+) since 1 January of the current year; for la Mountagnole and la Rapaillou, at least 2,500 km and 10,000 m of climbing (D+).
La Passéjade and Elles Font l’Ariégeoise are rides that also require a minimum level of fitness and preparation. It is recommended, from 1 March of the current year, to ride at least 1,000 km and 5,000 m of climbing (D+).
ARTICLE 8 – INSURANCE
Civil liability:
The organizer has taken out insurance via the FFC’s insurer WTW covering its own Civil Liability as well as that of registered participants, for material or bodily damage they might accidentally cause to third parties or to each other. It applies only on the official route and during the event, for participants who are duly registered and checked at each control point (timing is the proof).
Bodily injury, personal accident insurance:
In accordance with article L321-4 of the French Code du Sport, the organizer emphasizes the importance of taking out personal accident insurance covering bodily injury risks associated with participation in this event. It is up to participants to protect themselves against this type of risk. Licensed riders must check with their federation that they are sufficiently covered for bodily injury incurred during this type of event. Otherwise, they are strongly advised, as are non-licensed riders, to take out at least the insurance proposed or any other coverage with the insurer of their choice.
In summary:
-
Personal insurances (family, home insurance) do not cover cyclosportive events.
-
Civil Liability (“If I injure someone”) is mandatory. For FFC-licensed riders, it is included in the licence. For all others, the organizer provides this cover via its contract with AXA France IARD – WTW. This cover is included in your registration fee via an additional 5 €.
-
Personal Accident insurance (“If I injure myself”):
-
For all FFC-licensed riders, the cover linked to their licence always applies.
-
For riders licensed with other federations (UFOLEP, FFCT, FFTRI, FSGT, etc.) and for non-licensed riders, they are not covered by the organizer for personal accident and must take out additional cover with the insurer of their choice. This optional insurance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended.
-
Material damage and liability:
Neither the organizer nor its insurer covers damage sustained by participants’ equipment and gear, particularly in the event of a crash or theft. It is up to each rider to insure themselves for these risks with an insurer of their choice. Participants acknowledge that the organizer is not responsible for the safekeeping of personal property in the event of damage, theft or loss. Any items entrusted to third parties (members of the organization or others) are under the sole responsibility of the participant. Bicycles entrusted only to course marshals, broom-vehicle volunteers or volunteers in charge of the bike park are under the sole responsibility of the organization.
ARTICLE 9 – ASSISTANCE
You must provide your own mechanical support.
However, L’Ariégeoise offers technical assistance with repairs and transport. Mechanics and small spare parts (payable on site) will be available on the route. If payment cannot be made on site, an invoice will be sent to your home.
Medical assistance is provided by a private company specialized in medical coverage of sporting events, ambulances, fixed Red Cross posts and with links to SAMU 09 and the fire brigade.
ARTICLE 10 – RACE NUMBER COLLECTION – START CONTROL
Race numbers will be distributed on Friday 26/06/2026 in Tarascon-sur-Ariège, 6 avenue Paul Joucla, Espace François Mitterrand – cinema hall, from 09:00 to 20:00, and on Saturday 27/06 at the same location from 05:00 to 06:30. A third party may collect the race number(s) for one or more participants on presentation of the registration confirmation and a copy of the participant’s ID.
Start control will open at 05:30. The start will be given in Tarascon-sur-Ariège.
-
06:45 for l’Ariégeoise
-
07:15 for la Mountagnole
-
07:45 for la Rapaillou
-
08:10 for Elles font l’Ariégeoise
-
08:15 for la Passéjad’Elec and la Passéjade
The organization reserves the right, depending on weather conditions, to modify the starting times of the various races.
Before the start, riders must pass through the start pen (“sas de départ”) corresponding to their chosen route for electronic chip control. On Friday 26/06, electronic chip checks may be carried out at the exit of the number collection area at the timing stand (Espace François Mitterrand hall).
To ensure smooth running of the event, the organizer implements various controls via electronic chips: at the start, on the route and at the finish. Any rider not recorded at one of the control points will not be ranked.
ARTICLE 11 – WITHDRAWALS – TIME LIMITS (CUT-OFFS)
Time limits are set at each feed station.
Any rider who is outside the official time limit at a given cut-off point must abandon and hand over their race number and frame plate to the designated volunteer. The organization will offer them transportation from the feed station to the finish area.
If a rider outside the time limit does not wish to use this service and prefers to travel by their own means to the start or finish, their home, holiday location or any other place, they do so under their own responsibility and outside the safety framework of the organization.
Any rider wishing to withdraw at a feed station must inform the volunteer in charge at that feed station. The organization will offer transportation to the finish area.
If the participant refuses this solution and chooses to return by their own means (to the start, the finish, home, holiday location or elsewhere), they do so under their own responsibility and outside the safety framework of the organization.
Any rider wishing to withdraw on the course must wait for the broom vehicle. The organization will then offer transportation to the finish area.
If the participant refuses this solution and chooses to return by their own means (to the start, the finish, home, holiday location or elsewhere), they do so under their own responsibility and outside the safety framework of the organization.
If no information is given regarding a withdrawal, the participant will bear the costs incurred for a search operation.
For all timed races, time limits are set by the organization and communicated to all entrants. Indicatively:
-
average speed over the entire distance of l’Ariégeoise: 18 km/h
-
average speed over the entire distance of la Mountagnole: 15 km/h
-
average speed over the entire distance of la Rapaillou: 15 km/h
-
average speed over the entire distance of la Passéjade, Passéjad’Elec and Elles Font l’Ariégeoise: 15 km/h
At the cut-off point designated by the organization, riders in l’Ariégeoise whose times exceed the cut-off limits will be redirected onto the Mountagnole route.
Time limits
The cut-offs will be available online from 16 November 2025 when the routes are presented.
ARTICLE 12 – EQUIPMENT AND GEAR
L’Ariégeoise Cyclosportive is a mountain event. Each participant must start with equipment compliant with current regulations (brakes, suitable and roadworthy tyres, etc.) and clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

New in 2026: L’Ariégeoise is introducing an eco-cyclo patrol along the entire route. This patrol’s mission is to raise participants’ awareness of environmental protection, and it is authorized to record the race numbers of any participants throwing waste outside the designated zones. These riders will be automatically disqualified.
ARTICLE 18 – MODIFICATION, POSTPONEMENT, CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT
If circumstances require it, L’Ariégeoise reserves the right to modify the route, feed station locations, timing points, distances, or to postpone the date and/or times of the event at any time.
In case of cancellation due to a health crisis, and only for this reason, the organization will transfer your registration to L’Ariégeoise 2027.
If the event is cancelled due to force majeure or by prefectural decision for reasons beyond the organizer’s control, the organization is released from any liability towards entrants. No refund will be made.
